Refund Policy
This policy explains when CueSwitch refunds a payment made at a CueSwitch Terminal, how to ask, and what a refund does to your venue. It is part of the Terms of Service.
The short version
- Refunds are paid in L$, in Second Life, to the avatar that paid. There is no other kind of refund.
- If a terminal can’t reach CueSwitch, it refunds you by itself, usually within a few minutes. You don’t need to ask.
- If your stream never worked, ask within 7 days of paying and we refund that payment in full.
- Otherwise we don’t refund paid time, including weeks you didn’t use. Unless you switch on autopay, nothing renews by itself, so you can simply stop paying. If autopay is on, turning it off stops all later charges.
- CueSwitch never holds tips, so it can’t refund them.
This summary is here to help. The numbered sections below are the full text.
1. How refunds work #
- You pay CueSwitch in L$ at a CueSwitch Terminal (club: L$400 for 1 week, L$1,600 for 4 weeks or L$4,800 for 12 weeks) or at the Performer Terminal (DJ Live: L$75 for 1 week, L$300 for 4 weeks or L$900 for 12 weeks; DJ Radio: L$150 for 1 week, L$600 for 4 weeks or L$1,800 for 12 weeks). Every refund is paid in L$, in Second Life, to the avatar that made the payment. We don’t refund in real money or in any other form.
- An L$ payment can’t be reversed, so a refund is a separate L$ payment from CueSwitch back to you. A refund is never more than you paid.
- A refund takes back the paid time that payment added (see What a refund does to your venue).
- An autopay charge is a payment like any other. It buys one week, and the rules on this page apply to it in the same way. If autopay ever charges you twice for the same week, or after you turned it off or its weeks ran out, we refund that charge in full. You don’t need to ask.
2. Automatic refunds at the terminal #
The terminal refunds you by itself in these cases. You don’t need to ask.
- The terminal can’t reach CueSwitch. It sends each payment to our server and retries for a few minutes if there is no answer. If it still fails, it refunds exactly what you paid and sends you an IM. This usually happens within a few minutes of paying.
- A wrong amount. The terminal only offers its prices. Any other amount (only possible with a modified viewer) is refunded at once.
- A DJ Live payment for a DJ Radio stream. If you already have a DJ Radio stream, a DJ Live payment is refused and refunded at once. The refund IM names the DJ Radio prices (L$150 for 1 week, L$600 for 4 weeks or L$1,800 for 12 weeks). Paying a DJ Radio price on a DJ Live stream is an upgrade, not a refund case.
- An L$125 first week you can’t have. The L$125 first week is only for an avatar that never had a CueSwitch club venue, and only for the first 5 clubs. Any other L$125 payment is refunded at once.
A payment the terminal refunded gives you no paid time. If our server had already added the time, it is removed. Each payment is refunded at most once.
A terminal that can’t pay refunds takes no payments: its pay buttons are hidden and it shows “Out of service”.
If 15 minutes pass after paying and you have neither a setup link nor a refund, contact us at [email protected] with the time of your payment (SLT).
3. Full refund if your stream never worked #
Ask within 7 days of paying and we refund that payment in full if your venue’s stream never worked at any point since you paid, because of a problem on our side. For example: your station was never set up, or no DJ or listener could ever connect to it.
We check our records before refunding. We may offer to fix the problem first, but if you would rather have the refund, you get it.
This doesn’t cover problems on your side, such as a parcel music URL that isn’t set, a DJ’s streaming software settings, or media turned off in a viewer. The Help page covers these, and we are glad to help.
4. When we don’t refund #
Apart from the cases above, paid time is not refunded. That includes:
- partly used time, and weeks you didn’t use;
- stopping early, changing your mind, or your club closing;
- a venue paused or closed for breaking the Terms of Service, including for copyright infringement;
- short outages, planned maintenance, and problems caused by Second Life itself, such as a region going down;
- a venue that was deleted after it lapsed.
You never need a refund to stop. CueSwitch is prepaid, and nothing renews by itself unless you switch on autopay. To stop autopay, turn it off on your Home Terminal or your dashboard. No later week is charged.
5. Other cases #
We may refund, or add free time, in other cases, such as a long outage on our side. That is our decision, case by case, and a goodwill refund doesn’t create a right to others.
If we stop offering CueSwitch altogether, we refund the unused whole weeks of every venue in L$, as set out in the Terms of Service.
6. How to ask for a refund #
Email [email protected] with:
- your avatar name;
- the time of your payment (SLT) and the amount;
- where the terminal was, if you know;
- what went wrong.
We reply within 7 days. If we approve the refund, an admin sends the L$ to your avatar in Second Life and records it against your payment.
7. What a refund does to your venue #
- The weeks that payment added are removed, so your paid-until date moves back.
- If, after the refund, none of your payments for the venue still stands and no paid time is left, the venue is switched off right away, without the 3-day grace. Its setup is kept for 30 days like any paused venue (7 days for a DJ Live or DJ Radio stream). Pay again and it comes back.
8. Tips #
Tips go into the venue owner’s jar, and the jar’s script splits them with the DJ on deck. CueSwitch never receives or holds tips, so we can’t refund them. If you tipped by mistake, ask the venue owner. If the jar couldn’t reach CueSwitch, the whole tip stayed with the owner.
