How it works
From one payment to a live set
CueSwitch runs inside Second Life. Owners pay and manage the club, DJs stream, and listeners tune in. Here is what each of them does.
Run your club from one web dashboard.
If you own a club, one payment sets it up. Your stream, AutoDJ, DJs, schedule, tips and alerts are managed in your browser. No password: sign in at any CueSwitch Terminal.
Pay at a CueSwitch Terminal
Pay L$400 for 1 week, L$1,600 for 4 weeks or L$4,800 for 12 weeks. See pricing for what is included.
Open your dashboard
Your link arrives by IM. It is a one-time link, so there is no password to set up.
If a link expires, touch a CueSwitch Terminal in-world for a new one. Or touch your board, if you have one.
Set up your club
- Copy your Stream URL into your parcel’s music setting.
- Upload the music AutoDJ plays when no DJ is live. You have about 5 GB of storage.
- Build the lineup in SLT.
- Add your DJs. Each one gets a streaming login.
- Choose whether DJs can only connect during their scheduled sets.
- Add Discord alerts and managers if you want them.
- Check History for every payment and tip, with totals.
The owner setup guide in Help walks you through it.
Add CueSwitch devices (optional, sold separately)
The in-world board, tip jar, Greeter and other devices are sold separately at the CueSwitch shop. They add the board, the tip split, go-live IM alerts and visitor counts. A new club does not get a free venue kit.
If you already have a venue kit, you keep it, with Resend kit and updates.
Keep it running
CueSwitch sends payment reminders 3 days and 1 day before expiry. After expiry there is a 3-day grace period. Then the stream pauses and your data is kept for 30 days. The pricing page has the details.
If you DJ
You stream with the software you already use. If the club has a CueSwitch board, the board and the alerts do the rest.
Want a stream of your own instead of a club’s? DJ Live and DJ Radio are personal streams for one DJ or singer, with a web account and your own streamer login. See DJ streams.
Get your login
Each DJ has a streaming login of their own. Touch the CueSwitch board in-world and choose DJ login to get to yours.
Set up your software
BUTT, Mixxx, Traktor and VirtualDJ are supported. Enter your streaming login in the one you use.
Check your set time
Your sets are in the lineup, in SLT.
The owner can limit DJs to connecting during their scheduled sets. If that is on, you can only connect during yours.
Go live
Connect and start playing. The board shows you as on air and shows what is playing. Avatars who subscribed to alerts get an IM that you are live.
Collect tips
Tips go into the Tip Jar. Each tip is split between the DJ on deck and the venue, using the percentage the owner set. When you stop, AutoDJ plays the club’s music until the next DJ goes live.
If you listen
Tune in. If the club has a CueSwitch board, you can also see what is on and opt in to alerts when a DJ goes live.
Tune in
Every club has its own stream. It is a 320 kbps MP3 stream unless the owner picks 192 or 128, and it takes up to 100 listeners.
See what is on
The board shows who is on air, what is playing and the next set. The same information appears on a live web display and in the board’s hover text.
Touch the board
The touch menu has the lineup, song requests, DJ login and alerts.
Get an IM when a DJ goes live
Alerts are opt-in and never sent by bots. Clubs can send Discord alerts too.
Tip the DJ
Tips go into the Tip Jar and are split between the DJ on deck and the venue.
Music licensing
Music licensing for what a venue plays is the venue’s responsibility. The terms explain more.
